We’re excited to announce a presentation by Peter Boncz on his latest project, MotherDuck, a cloud-based service designed to extend and enhance DuckDB's capabilities for improved manageability and scalability in analytics.
Peter Boncz is a senior researcher at the Database Architectures research group of CWI. Additionally, he holds a professorship at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the special chair of Large-Scale Analytical Data Management, focusing on his research endeavors. Renowned as the architect of database systems such as MonetDB, VectorWise (also known as Actian Vector), and VectorH (VectorWise-on-Hadoop), Peter Boncz has contributed significantly to the field and has been instrumental in the establishment of five spin-off companies specializing in data management.
This talk will be about Peter Boncz's latest industry endeavor, MotherDuck, a managed DuckDB-in-the-cloud service designed to amplify users' local DuckDB experiences with cloud-based manageability and scalability. Originating from Boncz's research institution, DuckDB is a fully featured, open-source, in-process OLAP database. MotherDuck, a separate organization closely partnering with DuckDB Labs, aims to offer a DuckDB-based cloud analytics service tailored for enhanced productivity and collaboration.
